Sophia Marina Pickles, 88, New Glasgow, passed away peacefully, Saturday, February 1, 2025, in the Aberdeen Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, New Glasgow.
Born in Blackpool, England, she was a daughter of the late G. Walker and Janetta May (Hingley) Pickles. Sophia was employed with the former Maritime Tel & Tel for 36 years. She was a faithful member of First United Baptist Church, New Glasgow, where she served with the Theo Dunn WMS for many years. Sophia was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, Heather Council.
Surviving are her sister, Elsie Sample, Stellarton; niece, Amanda (Bob) Steenson, Midland, Ont.; nephews, Andrew (Gail) Sample, Stellarton; Jonathan (Sharmilla) Sample, Edmonton, Alta.; several grandnieces and grandnephews.
In keeping with Sophia’s wishes, a private family graveside service will be held in Lorne Street Cemetery in the spring.
Donations may be made in memory of Sophia to any charity of choice.
