
Obituary of Dolena Alverta MacLeod
Dolena “Dolly” Alverta MacLeod, 95, New Glasgow, Passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family, she was the daughter of Edwin Brookfield Munroe and Katherine Violet (MacDonald) Munroe.
Born and schooled in Trenton, she then worked at the Metropolitan Department Store in New Glasgow where she met her Soul Mate, Doug. Dolly was a lover of all animals especially her cat Snoopy. She enjoyed crocheting, Yahtzee and playing cards, her favorite being SkipBo. Dolly, was also lovingly known as Nanny to her grandchildren, Andrew, Tarhen, Breanne, Joseph and Colin, and GG to five great grandchildren.
Surviving are daughters, Susan (James) Marshall, MacLellan’s Brook; Nancy (Dennis) Douglas, New Glasgow; son, Scott (Belinda) MacLeod, Antigonish; Grandchildren; sister-in-law, Karen (Dexter) Megeney, Stellarton; brother-in-law, Edward (Judith) MacLeod, New Glasgow and many more relatives.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Douglas Charles MacLeod; nephews, Cyril Munroe, Leonard Munroe and Cpl Kevin Megeney .
She was the last remaining member of her generation of siblings.
Funeral Mass will be held at a later date in Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Stellarton with interment to follow in the parish cemetery.
Donations in Dolly’s memory may be made to Hope for Wildlife or Two Rivers Wildlife Park.
