Obituary of Ida Melita Rundle

Ida Melita (Wells) Rundle, 78, of Glen Haven Manor and formerly of Westville, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2025, in the Manor, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Freeman and Daisy (Gerrior) Wells. Ida grew up on Duke Street in Trenton and had many stories of her time growing up on the hill. Ida went to Cape Breton Business College and soon after married her husband, John. She owned and operated a laundromat with her husband and, sister and brother-in-law in Westville and then went on to work for HCRS. She provided in home care for seniors in her later years.

Ida loved taking care of others and was a wonderful baker and cook. You could always count on a fantastic Sunday dinner and the best rolls. She loved gardening, Friday night card parties, lunching with the ladies, finding "treasures" at the flea market or thrift store, and spending time with her beloved grandchildren. She and Dad loved to hunt and fish and spent time travelling to Newfoundland to work and explore the great outdoors during their 33 years together.

Ida is survived by her children, Trudy Duggan, Tracey Rundle, Heather and Aaron Millen; her grandchildren, Shona and Megan Duggan, Johnathon Rundle, Jeanetta (Joel Maclean) and Danielle Millen (Adam Dykstra); chosen grandchildren, Timothy Chaisson and Kirstin Noiles; stepmother, Marlene Wells; sister-in-law, Sharon Charlton; brothers, Terry, James and Herman Wells; many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Ida was predeceased by her husband John Rundle; brothers Fred, Doug, James W.; sister Jackie; and father-in-law Tom Rundle.

Ida's family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Glen Haven Manor, whose compassion and care brought great comfort to her during her final days.

Cremation has taken place. In keeping with Ida's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. A private celebration of her life will be held at a later time.

Anyone wishing to give a gift in Ida's memory please consider carrying out a random act of kindness, or donating to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada.

Lovingly submitted by family.
