Obituary of Florence Belle Jack

Florence Belle Jack, 87, Pictou Landing, passed away peacefully, Friday, April 11, 2025, in the Aberdeen Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, New Glasgow, with her family by her side.

Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late, George Sherman and Emma Marguerite (Langille) Hallett.  Florence was employed with Sobeys meat department for many years. Some of her greatest joys were times spent picking berries and camping with family.  Florence was very creative and enjoyed crafting, especially, crocheting and knitting. In later years, she enjoyed drives in the country looking for wildlife and to see the beauty of nature. She possessed an unwavering strength and maintained a wonderful sense of humour – never accepting defeat. Florence radiated warmth and love and will be remembered for the beauty she possessed.

Surviving are her children, Cathy Polley (Lee), Pictou Landing; Donald (Karen) Smith, Priestville; Paula Smith, Dartmouth; Juanita (Quentin) Dexter, Dartmouth; Roseanne Smith (Kevin), Dartmouth; Emma Cooke (Craig), Dartmouth; sister-in-law, Kathy Hallett, Port Bickerton; grandchildren, Jason, Christopher, Chantelle, Malcolm, Cheyenne and Colton; great-grandchildren, Blaize, Lilly, Junior, Zara, Riley and Savaha; many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Laurie Smith; second husband, Harley Jack; grandson, James Robert Greencorn; sisters, Delores “Dolly” Walsh, Violet Hallett and Juanita Hallett; brothers, John Hallett and Floyd Hallett; brother-in-law, Ellsworth Walsh; nephews, Robert Walsh and Eddie Hallett.

Florence’s family wish to thank the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit nurses and physicians for the wonderful care she received, and the kindness and compassion demonstrated to her family.

In honour of Florence’s wishes, her family will celebrate her life privately.

Donations may be made in memory of Florence to the Aberdeen Health Foundation Palliative Care Fund or Hope for Wildlife.
