In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by sister, Louise (Lulu) Terrio; brother, Terence (Terry) Terrio.
Chris was born and raised in D’Escousse. He was known to never pass up on a kitchen party, a scotch, fast car, or an opportunity to insert a classic dad joke, he was just too punny. At one point in his teenage years, he does tell us about a time he ran away with the circus. Clearly that didn’t work out for him as he found a passion for culinary arts - something for which we are endlessly grateful. He spent time out west and never failed to mention his time at the Bristol Room in Calgary. Another fond memory was his time as a Chef at the Vienna Schnitzel in Prince George, BC, where strangely enough, Cindy was a customer there while he was working, decades before they officially met at Stan Fest.
“Poppa” or “Pops” was a jack of all trades. There isn’t much he hasn’t done — well known as a Chef, also working aboard many shrimp trawlers in the 90’s, NSCC culinary arts teacher, shoe leather repair business, professional window cleaning business, French cuisine catering company, high pressure wash business, owner of Mr. T’s pizzeria, a safety officer, millwright, bunk bed building business, most recently working as a Commissionaire, he was a Ground Search and Rescue volunteer for 23 years as well as a volunteer for the Pictou County Food Bank.
There are many things he was known for and he was never scared to try something new. He was a semi professional spoon player and whistler, brewed the best beer in Portuguese Cove in ‘84-85, inventor of the infamous all purpose spice “Sea-zen” (no really, you can use it on anything), practicing Tai-chi and Taekwondo and assisting with coaching so many young athletes. He’s also known for giving the best hugs in the history of hugs, could fix or build just about anything, heck of a good pool player, cherishing every game played with his daughter, brother Bernie or Ed, known for being over prepared for any disaster situation, always willing to help out a neighbor or friend, record holder for sharpest and best hollandaise sauce (if it ain’t sharp, it ain’t right). He is also currently the unofficial, official holder of the world’s best moustache ever!
He was so proud of all of his children and grandchildren - and thankfully, he never missed an opportunity to tell us. He was the best listener (as long as his hearing aids were in), you always had his full attention - as if nothing else in the world mattered. He absolutely loved hosting friends and family and was always so excited for any opportunity to build you an unforgettable meal.
Thank you for the world so sweet, thank you for the food we eat, thank you for the birds that sing, thank you God for everything - Chris
A Celebration of Chris’s life will be held at a later date.
Donations may be made in Chris’s memory to Pictou County Volunteer Ground Search and Rescue or by supporting the ground search and rescue 50/50 draw.
Lovingly submitted by family.
