Obituary of Michelle Lynn Luckie-Taylor

It is with broken hearts that we share the sudden passing of our incredible mother, grandmother, wife, sister, and friend, Michelle Luckie-Taylor, who left us peacefully at home on July 1, 2025.

Michelle was born on July 28, 1970, in Montreal, Quebec, at the Jewish General Hospital. Not long after, her family moved to New Glasgow, when her father, Donald (Luckie), took a job with Michelin Tires Ltd. (Granton). New Glasgow is where Michelle grew up, made her lifelong friends, and built the values that meant the most to her. Family always came first, and she carried that with her throughout her life.

Michelle graduated from New Glasgow High School in 1988 and later followed her dream of becoming a teacher. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from UPEI, a Bachelor of Education from St. F.X., and her Master of Education from Mount Saint Vincent University. But to Michelle, being a teacher wasn't just a job, it was part of who she was. She had a natural way of helping, guiding, and lifting people up, both in and out of the classroom.

Michelle's greatest joy, without question, was her family. She was a fiercely devoted mother who always put her children first. She knew exactly what to say, when to listen, and how to make everything feel okay, even on the hardest days. Her kindness, patience, and quiet strength are gifts she passed on to all of us.

She leaves behind her loving husband and best friend, Brian Taylor, and their daughters: Meghan (Alex) of Dartmouth; Mikayla (William) of Halifax; Kara-Lynn; and Jillian. More than anything, Michelle adored being "Nanny" to her beautiful grandchildren, Charlotte, Logan, Henry, and Clara. They were the absolute light of her life, and nothing made her happier than watching them grow. Her love for her family was endless, and they brought her so much joy and pride.

Brian and Michelle were married in 2001 and stood by each other's side for 24 beautiful years. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and quiet strength, supporting one another through life's ups and downs. They raised four wonderful daughters and proudly watched their family grow with the arrival of four beautiful grandchildren. Their greatest joy was their family, both here on earth and in heaven, where their two precious babies, Brian and Briana, will always be part of their story. Every moment they shared reflected the deep love they had, not just for each other, but for the life and family they created together.

She is survived by her mother, Adeline Luckie (Prosser); her siblings, Donald (Susan) and Barb (Erik); and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will miss her deeply.

Michelle was predeceased by her father, Donald Luckie, and her two babies, Brian and Briana. We take comfort in knowing she is now holding them in her arms once again.

Anyone who knew Michelle knew how creative and thoughtful she was. Whether it was scrapbooking, quilting, or diamond painting, she poured her heart into every project. She loved making gifts for others. It was her way of showing love, and she always made sure the people in her life felt special.

She had a quiet, steady strength, a generous heart, and a love that will carry on in all of us. It's hard to imagine life without her, but we know she'll always be with us, in the things she made, the lessons she taught us, and the love she left behind.

There is a hole in our hearts that will never fully heal, but we find comfort in knowing that she is finally at peace, reunited with her babies she ever so dearly carried in her heart. We were blessed to have her in our lives, a woman whose love was fierce, steady, and unconditional. And although she is no longer here in the way we want, her love remains the thread that connects us forever.
