Obituary of David Bradley MacDonald

In Loving Memory of David Bradley MacDonald of Thorburn.

November 21, 1965 - June 26, 2025

With deep sadness and loving remembrance, we announce the passing of David Bradley MacDonald, a father, proud grumpy (grandfather), and unforgettable presence, on June 26, 2025, at the age of 59.

David lived life on his own terms—sharp-witted, hardworking, and always with a story to tell. A creative entrepreneur with a keen mind for business and a deep sense of pride in what he built, he poured his energy into every venture and every project, never doing anything halfway.

Whether he was in the woods hunting at first light, out for a skidoo, supporting his children with their love of horses or out perfecting his garden bed or trimming a hedge “just right,” David had an unmatched eye for detail and a deep love for seeing his family succeed. He took great pride in his home, his yard, and all that he possessed.

He had a quick sense of humor, an easy charm, and a way of making people feel at home—whether they were old friends or strangers passing through. Intelligent and endlessly curious, he never stopped learning or dreaming. Perseverance was in his bones, and even in the face of challenges, he pushed forward with determination.

Above all, he was a steady guide, a proud supporter, and the kind of grumpy (grandfather) who lit up when talking about his children and grandchildren. His lessons, laughter, and love will echo through generations.

David is survived by his children: Fallon MacDonald (Andrew Hicken), Natasha (Daniel) MacDonald, Tiffani MacDonald (Justin Nicoll), Felicia MacDonald (Michael Dolan), Savannah MacDonald ( Morgan Allway), Zackary MacDonald, and Jace MacLean; grandchildren: Seamus Labonte-Dolan, Oliver MacDonald, Gabriella MacDonald, Grace Hicken, Emmett Dolan, Hannah Hicken, Everly Hicken, Mayela MacDonald, Jonah Dolan, Ridge Nicoll, Cohen Nicoll, and Andi Hicken; and sisters: Betty Fraser (Simon Fraser) and Beverly Macleod (John Macleod).

He was predeceased by parents Annabelle MacDonald and Raymond MacDonald, brother Michael MacDonald, and nephew Shane Macleod.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Though he’s no longer with us in body, his stories, his laugh, and the memories we have will live on. He was one of a kind—and we were lucky to call him ours.

Lovingly submitted by family.
