Obituary of Joseph Ronald Higgins
Joseph Ronald “Ron” Higgins, 65, passed away peacefully, Monday, Jul 21, 2025 in the Aberdeen Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born in Truro he was the son of the late Joseph Boyle and Grace Rushton (Hayman). Over the years he has had many careers, before retirement he was employed with the Department of Highways for about 20 years. Joseph loved to cook and use the grill, he was given the title “Grill Master”, you would always find him making something whether it was for himself or anyone who was in the house. If he wasn’t home cooking or doing carpentry work, he was camping at his favorite campground in Brule with his family and fur babies.
Surviving are his wife, Darlene Ann Higgins; daughters, Peggy (Ali) MacEachern, Truro; Paula (Robbie) Higgins, Truro; Trish (Caleb) Higgins, Cranbrook, BC; son, Billy (Krista) Higgins, Truro; step-son Devon (Chantel) Leigh, Halifax; sister, Linda Lynds, Truro; his nieces, nephew, grand-niece and grandchildren who he loved dearly as well his fur babies Peanut and Misty
He was predeceased by his parents
In keeping with his families wishes donations may be made to the Pictou County Palliative Care Society
In honour of Ron’s wishes, his family will celebrate his life privately, at a date later that is to be determined.
The family would like to thank Dana MacLeod from the ICU unit at the Aberdeen Hospital for her wonderful care.
