Obituary of Charlotte Anna Matheson

Charlotte Anna Matheson, 85, Valley View Villa, Riverton, formerly of Plymouth, passed away peacefully, Friday, July 25, 2025, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, with her daughter and son by her side.

Born in Knoxford, N.B., she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Irene Isabel (Cormier) Dyer.  Prior to retirement, Charlotte was employed with he former, H.L. Whites, Dominion Store, Super Store, Glidden Paints and David’s Paint and Paper. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, #10 Ceilidh, New Glasgow, where she has served as Worthy Patron. Charlotte was 51-year member of the Plymouth Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She was honoured to have been recognized by the Fire Department in 2024 for her many years of service. Charlotte was a member of Sharon St. John United Church, Stellarton. Charlotte possessed a great love for family, near and far. She did everything in her power to help her family.  She was the organizer of the family reunions and would plan family vacations around such events.  Charlotte was fond of traveling, whether it was to visit family or just spent quality time vacationing with family. She enjoyed camping and taking bus tours with friends, traveling to different states and to meet fellow Eastern Star members.  Charlotte loved telling stories, collecting jokes which she shared with her friends. She was amazing at putting a meal together in a matter of minutes for unexpected guests. If she knew you were coming, she would prepare a stew – she always said, “it does not matter what time you arrive, stew will be good”.   If time permitted, biscuits would also be available.

Surviving are her daughter, Sandra (Alan) MacDonald, Plymouth; son, Robert (Riek) Matheson, Plymouth; special daughter, Kay Court, Charlottetown; sister, Bonica (Bernie) Duff, Egerton; brother, Marvin (Emily) Dyer, Mount Albion, P.E.I.; grandchildren, Robert (Melanie) Long, Steven Long, Jessica Matheson, Chelsea Prescott, Natasha O’Laney, Jeffery Matheson, Cole Matheson, Sasha Court and Zachery Court; great-grandchildren, Madisyn, Ryley and Nathan Long; Morgan, Syliva and Sophia O’Laney; several nieces and nephews

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Ralph; grandson, Joel Matheson; son, Brian; brothers, Chesley “Ted”, Phillip and Owen Dyer.
