Obituary of Charmaine Louise Van den Eynden
Charmaine Louise Van den Eynden, 69, of Sundridge, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2025, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by her family.
Born in New Glasgow, she was the daughter of Sylvia Ann (Clyburn) Green and the late Howard George Green. Charmaine was a graduate of the former New Glasgow High School. At the age of 24, she married the love of her life, Tony Van den Eynden, and together they shared 47 beautiful years of marriage.
Charmaine enjoyed sitting out at night by her flower gardens, watching the stars and the moon. The night sky brought her immense pleasure and a deep sense of peace. She also had a passion for music, instilled by her father, which she expressed daily through singing.
Charmaine loved her fur babies, Max, Duffy and Bailey, and the many others that passed before her, including her beloved Cocoa, Marmalade, Mocha and Balto.
In the 1990s, she taught herself basic coding and launched her own websites: Charm’s Place in Space (cooking and poetry) and Charm’s Graphic Shack (graphic art). She became well known for starting and running online forums, notably a Fibromyalgia support group and an EAPG and Carnival Glass collectors’ group, through which she made many lifelong friends around the world.
Since her youth, Charmaine possessed a strong faith in her Lord and Saviour. She maintained and demonstrated that faith until her passing. Her faith was most visible in her relationships with her husband, children, family and communities, and in her constant ability to “do the right thing.” Even with her physical limitations, she remained open-hearted, hopeful, generous and above all, kind—traits that she also instilled in her children.
Charmaine is survived by her mother, Sylvia, Merigomish; her husband, Anthony “Tony” Van den Eynden, Sundridge; daughters, Tiffany Van den Eynden (Ryan MacKinnon), Truro; Whitney Van den Eynden (Patrick Young), Sundridge; sons, Jeremy Van den Eynden, Alberta; Trevor Van den Eynden (Andrew Merrill), Vancouver, B.C.; granddaughter, Cheria Young, Sundridge; sisters, Sandra (Colin) O’Brien, Westville; Sharon Stewart, Westville; Kathy Reid, Merigomish; brothers, H.
