Obituary of John Edwin Murphy
It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of John Edwin "Jack"Murphy on August 21st, 2025, in the Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow.
Born December 1st, 1955 to Donald Sr. and Ellen ( Legere ) Murphy.
Jack attended Hillside School and East Pictou Rural High before enrolling in Pictou Regional Vocational School, where he began his lifelong passion for repairing cars. Jack was the family go-to guy when something needed to be fixed. Whether it be an auto, lawn mower, broken appliance, or one of the kids toys. Some of the items that were trash bound would often be salvaged and returned in working condition. Jack spent most of his adult life working at the Trenton Car Works, where he took great pride in his contribution to the rail cars built there.
Those left to grieve Jack are his mother, Ellen; brothers, Donald Jr. ( Adele) and Kevin ( Arlene); sisters, Sylvia (Wade Cosh), Lori Murphy ( Lori ) and Kelli Murphy. Most important he leaves behind those who called him Uncle Jack. Sallie, Tara, Jeff, Lindsay, Ethan, Brooke, Ava, and Paige.
Jack was predeceased by his father Donald Murphy Sr., and his sister, Fay Murphy.
A private graveside service will be held for family.
A celebration of Jacks life will be held at a later date.
His family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the QE II Infirmary and the Aberdeen Hospital for their care, kindness, and compassion during Jacks illness.
Donations in Jacks memory can be made to the Aberdeen Health Foundation.
Lovingly submitted by family.
