Obituary of R. M. Gerard Pellerine

It is with deep love and gratitude that we announce the passing of Gerard Pellerine, a devoted family man, respected police officer and proud member of the New Glasgow community.

Gerard served with distinction as a career police officer with the New Glasgow Police Department where his professionalism, integrity and steady presence earned him the respect of colleagues and citizens alike.

A lifelong hockey enthusiast, Gerard was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks, Toronto Maple Leafs, Detroit Red Wings and his beloved Montreal Canadiens. Though he chose family over a career in the NHL, his passion for the game never waned. He dedicated countless hours to coaching, managing and mentoring younger generations leaving a lasting impact on local hockey. His contributions were formally recognized in September 1995 when he was inducted into the Pictou County Sports Heritage Hall of Fame.

Gerard was equally devoted to his community. He served on numerous councils, volunteered at countless events and worked tirelessly to support causes close to his heart - most notably raising funds for Children’s Wish. A proud and active member of the BPO Elks Lodge, he held every chair during his service. He embodied fellowship, leadership and generosity. Above all Gerard loved his family. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather whose humour, guidance and unconditional support will be forever cherished.
