Obituary of Michael Timothy McInnis

Michael Timothy McInnis, 59, Stellarton, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, September 17, 2025, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by the love of his children.

Born in New Glasgow on November 27, 1965, he was a son of the late Oliver Earl and Joan Frances (Marcott) McInnis. Mike began working for the Pictou District School Board under Ivor MacDonald and continued with Hillard MacDonald. He worked as a plumbing and heating assistant, as well as a general Laborer. He joined Chignecto Central Regional Centre for Education in February of 1993, working for the Nova Family of Schools, stationed at several schools including, Riverside Education Centre, Maple Ridge Elementary, and South Colchester Academy. In January 2011, Mike transferred to his home in Pictou County, where he continued his dedicated service with the Celtic Family of Schools until his recent passing. Throughout his more than 30 years with CCRCE, Mike served as a General Maintenance and HVAC Technician, bringing not only technical expertise, but also a quiet reliability and genuine care for the schools he supported. His contributions were felt by staff and students alike, and his presence will be deeply missed. 

His children and granddaughter were very important to him. Michael loved getting outside whether he was fishing, hunting or even a Sunday drive. He was always up for a “rip roaring” good time and loved relaxing by the fire with his boys and enjoyed long conversations with his daughter which always ended with a big hug and smile.

Surviving are his daughter, Julia McInnis, Linacy; sons, Ryan McInnis, Stellarton; Keith McInnis and his daughter, Everleigh McInnis, Stellarton; sisters, Ollie (Peter) Kontuk Stellarton; Margaret McInnis, Stellarton; brother, Henry (Shari) McInnis, Lyons Brook; niece, Hannah; nephews, Brandon, Jarrod, Mitchell, Timothy and Matthew; several grand nieces and nephews; many cousins.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by son, James Tony in infancy.

In honour of Michael’s wishes, a celebration of his life will be held 1-3 p.m. Saturday, November 29 in the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 28, Stellarton, where he enjoyed many good times.
