Obituary of Thomas Robert MacDonald
Thomas Robert MacDonald, 81, Riverton, passed away suddenly, Saturday, October 11, 2025, at home, with his wife by his side.
Born in New Glasgow, he was the son of the late Thomas Cook and Georgina (Henderson) MacDonald. Prior to retirement, Thomas enjoyed a 26-year career as a school bus driver with Chignecto Central Regional School Board. In earlier years, he was employed with Irving Oil, Texaco, CN transport, Michelin Tire and Less Stewart. Thomas enjoyed driving, everything from antique cars to large trucks. In younger years, he played in the Gentleman’s Hockey League in Westville, where he had served as President. He was an avid hockey fan and in later years, enjoyed having a smoke, sitting on the couch watching Hockey Night in Canada.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Barbara Ann (Worth) MacDonald; sons, Jason (Tanya), Loch Broom; Darren (Stephanie), Hopewell; Derek (Andrea), Salt Springs; grandchildren, Kyle, Aleeya, Bodin, Vara and Ciara; great-granddaughter, Lenox; many sisters and brothers-in-law.
Besides his parents, Thomas was predeceased by several aunts, uncles and cousins.
In honour of Thomas’ wishes, he will be laid to rest in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens, where his family will honour his life privately.
