Obituary of Adeline Luckie

 

Adeline Luckie, 83, New Glasgow, formerly of Whitney Pier, Sydney, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, October 21, 2025, in Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow with her daughter by her side.

 

Born in Sydney, she was a daughter of the late George Nelson and Emma Frances (Organ) Prosser. Following high school, she studied and became a Registered Nursing Assistant, working in the Jewish General Hospital, Montreal, Que., and retiring from the Adult Residential Centre, Riverton in 1990.  Adeline was a member of Royal Canadian Legion, Normandy Branch 34, New Glasgow where she served as Chaplin for many years and was  a member of the Legion Dart League. She was also a member of the Royal Canadian Naval Association and grateful for the friendships gained in both organizations.  Adeline enjoyed quilting and spending time with her grandchildren and family.

 

Surviving are her children, son, Donald (Susan), Saint John, N.B.; Barbara (Erik), Halifax; son-in-law, Brian Taylor, Abercrombie; grandchildren, Meghan (Alex), Mikayla (Will), Kara-Lynn, Jillian, Donald (Cassie), Michael and Alexander; great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Logan, Henry and Clara; brother, George Prosser, Sydney; many nieces and nephews.

 

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Donald; daughter, Michelle Luckie-Taylor; grandchildren, Brian and Briana; sister, Loretta; brothers, Ralph, Walter, Kenny, Donnie and Randolph “Porky”.

 

The family will receive visitors 10 – 10:50 a.m. Saturday, October 25 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home Chapel, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with Rev. Gail Johnson Murdock officiating. A reception will follow in the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 34, 39 North Provost Street, New Glasgow.

 

Donations may be made in Adeline’s memory to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
