Obituary of Mary Susan Salsman

Mary Susan Salsman, 72, New Glasgow, passed away Friday, October 17, 2025, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.

Born in Montreal, Que., she was a daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Robertson) Buckley. Prior to retirement Sue was a partner of Breton Business Centre. She enjoyed travelling with her husband, Rod on many motorcycle adventures that always included friends and visits to family. She was empathetic, attentive, and supportive and never hesitated to help those who needed it most.  Sue’s love for her daughter, son-in-law and her grandchildren was unmatched, and she spoke proudly of them to everyone who crossed her path.

Surviving are her daughter, Kelly Salsman (Nick Olender), Trenton; grandchildren, Brennan and Eva; brother, Mick, mother-in-law, Alice Stewart, brothers-in-law, Michael Salsman, Kentville; Timothy “Timmy” LeBlanc, Shelburne; beloved sister-in-law, Bette Salsman, sister-in-law, Laura Lee LeBlanc, Montreal, Que.; father-in-law Tom (Sarah) LeBlanc, St. John, N.B, best friend, Bea LeBlanc, Sydney; many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, Rod, she was predeceased by her parents, brothers Alan and Terry and sisters-in-law, Sigrid Sprenger and Madeleine Buckley.

We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the VON staff who cared for Sue throughout the years.  Their care, love, kindness and support helped to ensure she was comfortable and able to remain in her home. We would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Aberdeen Hospital for the wonderful care she received.

The family will receive visitors 12 noon - 1:45 p.m. Saturday, October 25 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow where Words of Comfort for Rod and his wife, Susan, who died on October 17, will be held at 1:45 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating.  Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery.
