Obituary of M. Irene B. MacDonald

M. Irene B. MacDonald, 91,  Harbour View Manor, Merigomish, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at home, with her family by her side.

Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Cameron Leith and Frances Augustine (Jones) Conrad.

Surviving are her daughters, Debbie MacDonald, Trenton; Kathy Kennedy (Les MacKinnon), Lower Barneys River; Jenny O’Laney, Lower Barneys River; Cindy Ross, Merigomish; sister, Carol Preeper, Eastern Passage; 15 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by son, Thomas (2018); son-in-law, Billy O’Laney; sisters, Marlene and Marion; brothers, Marshall, Roy, Garnet and Phillip.

In honour of Irene’s wishes a private burial of her cremated remains and those of her son, Thomas will be held in Murray’s Point Cemetery, Lower Barneys River.

Irene’s family wish to thank the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Team and Pictou County VON.
