Obituary of Billy Guthro

William Robert “Billy” Guthro, 57, Stellarton, passed away peacefully, Monday, December 1, 2025, in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII, Halifax, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of Barbara Ann (Malloy) Guthro and the late John James “Timmy” Guthro. Prior to retirement due to ill health, he was a heavy equipment operator for many years.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, spending time in the outdoors and, watching War and Gangster movies. Above all, Billy cherished spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, who were his most precious treasure. He leaves a rich legacy of love and devotion to his family.

Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Heather (MacDonald) Guthro; daughters, Amanda Guthro, Trenton; Amber (Corey) Hecimovich, Westville; Ashley Guthro, Stellarton; Son, William Robert “little Bill” Guthro, Stellarton; grandchildren, Jordyn Fournier, Brody Guthro, Declan Hecimovich, Denver Hecimovich, Kinsley Hecimovich and Olivia MacIsaac; brothers, John (Amber) Guthro, Stellarton; David (Amber) Guthro, River John; nieces, Alicia Guthro, Calgary, Alta.; Sophie Guthro, River John; nephews, Peter (Kelsey) Guthro, Springville; Jack Guthro, Stellarton; grandniece,  Remi; grandnephew, Porter; mother-in-law, Norma Jean MacDonald (Bill), Pictou; many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Besides his father, he was predeceased by his grandson, Tucker MacIsaac; brother, Richard Guthro; maternal grandparents, Mary Murphy and Adolph Malloy; paternal grandparents, Peter and Maisie Guthro.

The family will receive visitors 10 – 10:50 a.m. Friday, December 5 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home Chapel, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating.
