Obituary of Catherine Isabel Dean

Catherine Isabel Watson-Dean, 85, Valley View Villa, Riverton, formerly of New Glasgow and Coalburn, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, December 13, 2025.

Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late James A. W. Sutherland and Alice Isabel (MacBeth) Sutherland. She was a devoted homemaker all her life. For Catherine, “life has changed, not ended.”

Catherine is survived by her children and step-children; sister, Heather MacInnis; numerous grand and great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and her aunt Reta Robertson, Lismore.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, David Eugene Dean; sons, Arthur “Artie” and Allen; daughter Laura; and step-son, Billie.

In honour of Catherine’s wishes, her body has been donated to Dalhousie University, Department of Medical Neuroscience.
