Obituary of Scott William Bruce Hillier

Scott William Bruce Hillier, 47, Trenton, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2026.

Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of Bernard Fraser “Bernie” and Patsy Lynn “Pat” Hillier. Scott was currently employed as Safety Officer for B2Gold Corp in Nunavut, having previously been a safety officer with Suncor, Cenovus Energy, Saipem Canada and several other projects. He thoroughly enjoyed his career in safety supervision. Scott enjoyed hunting, fishing and hanging out with family and friends at the camp, “the high rise”. He enjoyed countless hours with Hershey “Baby Boy”, his chocolate labradoodle. Scott was a diehard Toronto Maple Leaf fan - best described by his friend as “the best/worse fan”. He often stated how blessed he was to have his baby girl, Danielle, for whom he would do almost anything. Described by loved ones, as “tighter than thieves”, Scott lived to spoil his “little girl”.  Along with being a loving father and son, he shared 20 years with his faithful partner, Dawn, whom he loved with all his heart.

Surviving besides his parents are his partner, Dawn; daughter, Danielle; stepson, Jacob, Trenton; sister, Kim, Londonderry; brother, Tim (Jody), Foisy, Alta.; niece, Pam; nephew, Christian; several aunts and uncles; many cousins and friends.

The family will receive visitors 2-4 p.m. Saturday, January 10 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow.

Family flowers only. Donations may be made in Scott’s memory to his teenage daughter, Danielle’s, education.

Scott’s family wish to thank Ashley Lewis, Tyler Wilson and Joan Gladney for being with them through “thick and thin”, their love and support, unwavering.
