Obituary of Nadine Cooley

 

Myrna Nadine Cooley, 72, Plymouth Park, passed away peacefully, Monday, January 19, 2026, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, with her family by her side.

 

Born in Kirkland Lake, Ont., she was a daughter of the late Lawrence Stanley “Johnny” and Frances Irene “Myrtle” (Dudgeon) Ede.  Nadine was a seamstress, having been employed with C.P. Smith Company for many years. Then later working at WearWell Garments. In earlier years, she was an outside supervisor at the former Thorburn White school and had operated her own knitting business.  Nadine was a member of Union Presbyterian Church, Michelin Tire Retiree’s Club and Crime Stoppers.  Nadine met her late husband and soulmate, James, in Sudbury, Ont., where they lived for several years before moving to Nova Scotia. In later years, she and James spent many enjoyable days camping at Scotia Pine Campground, Brookfield. They eventually moved their camper to Annapolis Valley, where they spent many enjoyable summers.

 

Surviving are her sons, James (Jennifer) Cooley and their children, Emily and Ryan; Dennis (Virginia) Cooley and their children, Lily, Jordan and Tyler; sisters, Donna Hutchinson, Chelmsford, Ont.; Edna Rapski, Sudbury, Ont.; Jenniffer  Lachance, Azilda, Ont.; Lorelei Desbiens (Roger), Levack, Ont.;  Arlene Ede, Val Caron, Ont.; Sharon Clements, Keswick, Ont.; brother, Sheldon Ede, Edmonton, Alta.; many nieces and nephews.

 

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, James Wesley Cooley on December 15, 2025; brothers, Myles, Dale, Larry, Kenneth and Wayne Ede.

 

The family will receive visitors 2-4 p.m. Friday, January 23 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, January 24 with Mr. John Reeves officiating. Nadine will be laid to rest with her husband, James, in Thorburn Cemetery in the Spring.

 

No flowers please. Donations may be made in Nadine's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society.
