Obituary of Jeanie Joyce Snell

Jeanie Joyce Snell, 78, Westville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at home surrounded by her loving family.  

Born in Telford, she was a daughter of the late Frederick John and Vivian Charlotte “Lottie” (Rice) Snell. After raising her family, Jeanie became a Personal Care Worker with the VON and in private care.  Her family stated that she was “the best mother ever”, there was nothing she would not do for her children and grandchildren.  Jeanie possessed an internal strength and an external energy that never stopped.  She was kind, caring and selfless, a true friend to the end.

Surviving are her children, Debby Turner, Westville; Delbert (Angie) Turner, Green Hill; Darcie Turner, Stellarton;  grandchildren, Karen, Breanna, Brooklyn, Tyler, Devry, Ruby, Emma, Zoe, Misa and Jax; sisters, Marianne (John) Stewart, Laggan; Mabel Walker, New Ross; brothers, Donald (Nancy) Snell, Sutherlands River; Barry Snell, New Glasgow; brothers-in-law, Wade Rafuse, New Ross; Royce Leopold, New Ross; numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by sisters, Sharon Grealey, Virginia Rafuse, Louise Powell and Mildred Leopold; brothers, Freddie and Fraser; brothers-in-law, Ron Walker, Allister Powell and Fred Grealey.

In keeping with Jeanie’s wishes, her family will celebrate her life privately.

Jeanie’s family wish to thank the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care team and Pictou County VON for the excellent care she and they, received.
