Obituary of Joseph Charlton Brooker

Joseph Charlton “Joey” Brooker, 62, Riverview Home, Riverton, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, January 21, 2026, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Charles William Brooker and Marjorie Isabella (Charlton) Brooker. Joey was cherished by his family and Riverview Home family. He enjoyed going for walks, going for coffee and drives.  Joey looked forward to his treats, which he accepted with childlike gratitude. For Joey, “life has changed, not ended!”

Surviving are his siblings, Debbie (Mike) Hughes, Trenton; Donna (Robert) Fraser, Trenton; Milton “Mal” (Loretta) Brooker, Trenton; Steven Brooker, New Glasgow; sister-in-law, Barbara Brooker, Trenton; many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents Joseph was predeceased by his brother, Charles William “Bill” Brooker Jr.

Joey's family will celebrate his life privately.

Donations may be made in Joseph’s memory to the Pictou County Palliative Care Society or Christ the King Cemetery.

Joseph’s family wish to thank his “other family”, the staff of Riverview Home, for the love and excellent care Joey received. They also wish to thank the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care staff for their compassion and professionalism.
