Obituary of Evelyn Mary Gormley

Evelyn Mary Gormley, 96, Scotsburn, formerly of Sunderland, Ont., passed away peacefully, Saturday, February 7, 2026, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, with her son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter by her side.

Born in Uxbridge, Ont., she was the daughter of the late Sylvester RD and Mary (Cleland) Jones. In earlier years, Evelyn had been Personal Care Worker in several long-term care facilities, later, transitioning to private home care.  Through out these years, she also worked alongside her husband, Arthur, operating their poultry farm. Evelyn was a hard working woman, who dearly loved her family.

Surviving are her daughters, Carolyn (John) Trick, Seagrave, Ont.; Sherry (Daryl) Phoenix, Sunderland, Ont.; sons, Stuart (Renee) Gormley, Lindsay, Ont.; Ken (Sue) Gormley, Newmarket, Ont.; Russell (Jacqueline) Gormley, Whitby, Ont.; Kevin (Marie) Gormley, Scotsburn; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren.         

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Joseph Gormley; daughter, Linda Gormley; brother, Melville “Mel” Jones.

Evelyn will be laid to rest with her late husband, Arthur, in the Spring.
