Obituary of Ray Webb
Lester Ray Webb, 78, Blue Mountain, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, February 11, 2026, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow with his family by his side.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Israel Leroy and Hazel Bertha (Eagles) Webb. Ray owned and operated Webbs Painting and Decorating Ltd. for over 50 years. Ray was a charter member of the Blue Mountain Fire Department where he served as Fire Chief for many years and as a member for 45 years. Ray enjoyed being in the outdoors, gardening, hunting, fishing, scuba diving, golfing, riding his motorbike, four wheeling, digging clams on the Five Islands mud flats and camping in Economy with his wife, Nancy. He was always the “life of the party” wherever he went and the first person on the dance floor. Ray possessed a wonderful sense of humour and always had the “right” joke or funny story to make you laugh. He faithfully attended Trenton Church of the Nazarene and cherished his church family. Over the years, Ray taught Youth and Men’s Sunday school classes and often chaperoned at Youth Rallies. He strived to be present in the lives of his family and friends. Most important in his life were his wife, daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren, honorary grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he often stated to be “the jewels in his crown” which gave him much joy. For Ray, “life has changed; not ended!”
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Nancy May (Clyburne) Webb; daughters, Sonya (James) Fraser, Iron Rock; Lesley Webb (Tom MacKenzie), Pictou Landing; grandchildren, Megan (Damien), Shawn (Jessica), Kyle (Shannon), Nick (Denise), Zach, Jessica (Joel), Dylan (Heran), Michael (Erin), Emilie (Brandon) and Daniel; great-grandchildren; Arlo, August, Isiah, Nolan, Elijah, Brianna, Teigan, Jaxon, Carter, Storm, Olivia, Lana, Lola, Leo, Lennox, Aurora, Ezra, Iris, Willow and Niko; sisters, Juanita Young, Oshawa, Ont.; Joy (Alex) Fitzpatrick, Thorburn; Hazel White, Westville Road; brother, Gary (Margie) Webb, New Glasgow; sisters-in-law, Sylvia Green, Merigomish; Linda MacKay, Little Harbour; Diane Perry, New Glasgow; Betty Clyburn, Pictou; Gloria Clyburn, Plymouth; numerous nieces and nephews.
