Obituary of Fred MacKenzie
Frederick William “Fred” MacKenzie, 77, Plymouth, passed away Friday, February 20, 2026, in the Aberdeen Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Jack and Daisey MacKenzie. Fred was a well-known and respected bar tender at Glasgow Pub for many years until retirement.
Fred possessed a “heart of gold wrapped in concrete”. He was a “straight shooter” who believed in fairness and accountability. Fred and Evelyn enjoyed riding their side-by-side with biking friends in Sherbrooke. They also enjoyed traveling to many warm and sunny designations. Fred enjoyed his privacy spending time with his children, grandchildren, Evelyn and their many friends. He will be forever remembered by those he loved.
Surviving are his wife, Evelyn Hatton; daughter, Margo Wright, Trenton; sons, Jeffery MacKenzie, Trenton; Brandon MacKenzie, Halifax; Jarett MacKenzie (Stephanie), Calgary, Alta.; Cameron MacKenzie, New Glasgow; step-daughter, Holly Cook, Sherbrooke; grandchildren, Savanah, Meranda, Anthony, Keegan, Montana, Jeffery, Mylo, Ace, Kash, Lux and Tru; step-granddaughter, Kenzie; great-grandchildren, Cameron, Laila, Priya, Laith and Sophia; several siblings; brother-in-law, Stan (Val) Jack, Cole Harbour; numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his step-grandson, Leo; a brother.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 p.m. Tuesday, February 24 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
Fred’s family wish to thank his longtime friend, Nick, for always being there for him.

We will take it from here - love you!”
