Obituary of Brian John Busby

Brian John Busby, 77, Hopewell, passed away peacefully, Saturday, February 28, 2026, at home surrounded by the love of his family.

Born in New Glasgow he was a son of the late John Robert “Jack” and Valerie Evangeline (Mills) Busby.  Brian was employed in finance, banking and real estate. He was an avid golfer and card player. Brian was well known throughout North America in the Bridge and Cribbage communities, having won many Bridge tournaments.

Surviving are his daughter, Jennifer (Derrick) Fidgen-Desmond, Musquodoboit; grandchildren, Brianna, Josh and James; great-grandchildren, Addy and Clara Jane; sister, Brenda Major (Mark Crossan), Abercrombie; brother; Bruce Busby, Hopewell; nieces, Nicole Busby (Bob Yorke), Sauble Beach, Ont.; Cathy (Mark) Patterson, Central West River; grand-nieces, Poppy, Kara and Brooke; grand-nephew, Jack; great-nephew, Levi; paternal aunt, Helene Dallas, Oshawa, Ont.; several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by niece, Holly Major; great-nephews; Bruce Jr. in infancy;

sister-in-law, Virginia Busby.

In honour of Brian’s wishes, his family will celebrate his life privately.
