Obituary of George Douglas Wilson

 

George Douglas Wilson, 83, Shiretown Nursing Home, Pictou, formerly of Moncton, N.B., passed away peacefully, Wednesday, March 11, 2026, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by the love of his family.

 

Born in Moncton, hew as a son of the late Lloyd Carmen and Hazel C (Ayers) Wilson.  George was employed as a Carman with the Canadian National Railway Company along with being a professions bass player for many years. He was a skilled carpenter and enjoyed building projects. His passion was touring on his Harly Davidson Motorcycle with friends.  George was very social and possessed a wonderful sense of humor.  He loved his family dearly and moved to Nova Scotia several years ago to spend the remainder of his life near his children and grandchildren. George will be dearly missed by those he loved.

 

Surviving are his son, Douglas Gordon Wilson and his children, Mitchell Ronald Wilson-Vohs and Brianna Lee Wilson-Vohs, Lyons Brook; daughter, Georgia (Ron) MacDonald, and their son, Xander Wilson-Vohs, New Glasgow; mother of his children, Brenda (MacCaullum) (Matt) Vohs, Lyons Brook; several nieces and nephews.

 

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Blake Ayer Wilson, Earl Edwin Wilson, Gerald Carman Wilson and Harold Blake Wilson.

 

George’s family wish to thank the Shiretown Nursing Home staff and the Aberdeen Hospital staff for the wonderful care given.

 

In honour of George’s wishes, his family will celebrate his life privately.
