Obituary of Bill Pyche

William Lewis “Bill” Pyche, 62, Trenton, passed away peacefully at home, Monday, March 16, 2026, with his family by his side.

Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late James Ainsley and Rose Ann (Emberly) Pyche. Bill was a sheet metal fabricator, a career he dearly loved. He joined East Coast Sheet Metal Ltd., 15 years ago and adopted them as his “work family”. Bill strived for perfection in his work, setting very high standards for himself and co-workers. He looked forward to going to work each day until his health prevented.  Bill enjoyed teaching his boys how to work. When he and his son, Luke worked together, he carried a coin, heads, he got yelled at, tails, “fix and you better get it right”. He lovingly referred to himself as his late son, James’, taxi driver, they enjoyed many hours together. Bill always referred to his niece, Alaura, as the perfect daughter he never had. Bill loved his fur babies, Rio and Molly. He and his wife Rhonda were true partners for over 44 years.  They fell in love at a young age and together they proved that they “could live on love”. His family are comforted in their belief that for Bill, “life has changed, not ended”, and is now together with James and all his loved ones who have gone before him.

Surviving are his wife, Rhonda Lynn (Phalen) Pyche, Trenton; son, Lucas Pyche (aka. Luke Phalen) (Emily), Halifax; sisters, Judy (John) Raniowski, New Glasgow; Rosemarie (Greg) Simms, Burlington, Ont.; brothers, David Peitzsche, New Glasgow; Joe (Viviana) Pyche, Burlington; mother-in-law, Yvonne “Sally” (Morrison) Phalen, Westville; sisters-in-law, Deanie Phalen (Ralph), Trenton; Sheila MacNeil (Paul), Trenton; Shari (Mark) MacDonald, Trenton; many nieces and nephews; fur baby, Molly.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son, James Gerald Pyche; sister, Brenda Windsor; father-in-law, Thomas Gerald Phalen.

Rhonda wishes to thank Bill’s sister, Judy, for faithfully visiting her brother. Jimmy Hogan, his East Coast Sheet Metal pal (from his first day on the job) for his frequent phone calls to update and check in. Bill’s lifelong friend, J.J. “Pew-wee” Sutherland for always being there to help, no matter the time or day. Her sisters, for their many coffee runs and always for being just a phone call away. Last, but not least, the wonderful East Coast Sheet Metal employees who made Bill feel like family from his first day.

Bill’s family wish to thank, Palliative Care Consult Nurse, Debbie Williams, Aberdeen Palliative Care, Dr. Mohammed Fahim, Dr. Tom Park, Pictou County VON and Vital Air for the tremendous support he was given.
