Obituary of Bill MacKay

 

William Arnold “Bill” MacKay, 84, Little Harbour, passed away peacefully, Monday, April 20, 2026 at home, surrounded by his family.

 

Born in Six Mile Brook, he was a son of the late William and Clara (Rae) MacKay, and grandson of the late Elmer and Anna Rae with whom he lived for ten years. Prior to retirement, Bill was a 31-year employee of Michelin Tire, Granton.

 

Bill often could be found tinkering in his garage, hunting and going on many four wheeling trips with the ATV club. He was a devoted animal lover, taking in any animal that was in need of a loving home. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. 

 

Surviving are his wife, Linda Margaret (Landry) MacKay; daughter, Lisa (Keith) Smith, Rivers, Manitoba; son, Lucas (Randi) MacKay, Stratford, P.E.I.;  grandchildren, Terran, Gabriel, Gavyn, Harper, Nathan and Joshua; great-grandson James; daughters, Shelly (Melvin) MacDonald, Little Harbour; Jennifer (John) Polley, Little Harbour;  granddaughter, Alisha (Kyle) MacEachern;  very special grandson, Aden; great granddaughters, Nora and Sadie;  sisters, Ann MacNeil, Mount William; Lee (Eric) Sibilee, Salt Springs; Heather Ellis, P.E.I.; Kelly (John) Fraser, Calgary, Alta.; brothers, Strachan (Karen) MacKay, Brooklyn; Everett (Leah) MacKay, West River Station; sister-in-law, Joan MacKay, Westville; many nieces and nephews. 

 

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by maternal grandparents, Elmer and Anna Rae; son, Ivan Peers; brothers, Sandy and Sterling; sister-in-law, Helen MacKay.

 

In honour of Bill’s wishes, his family will celebrate his life privately.

 

Bill’s family would like to thank the Palliative care team, VON, David and his team at Pharmacy First for the exceptional care provided and the gift of being able to have Bill home with us.
