Obituary of André Marchand

Francois André Marchand, 80, Thorburn and Pondville, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at home.

Born in Pondville, he was a son of the late Joseph Ettiene and Elizabeth (Sampson) Marchand.  Prior to retirement, André had been employed with a Petro Canada gas refinery in Manitoba and previously with Suncor Energy. In earlier years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and digging clams in the summer and was a member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 150, Arichat.  He and Edith enjoyed attending the Sunday night dances in Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 28, Stellarton, playing cards, watching TV and enoying morning coffee watching the birds and squirrles play on the back deck.

Surviving is his partner, Edith (Foote) Murphy; daughters, Michelle Marchand (Don), Souris, P.E.I.; Catherine Marchand (Paul), Halifax; Lorne (Cheryl) Marchand, Winnipeg, Man.; grandchildren, Kaleigh (Dante), Tristian and Seraphina; great-grandson, Sebastian; sisters, Odille Campbell, Lena Bonin, Janette (Joe) Landry, Madeleine Marchand and Mary Jane (John) Armstrong ; brothers, Alfred (Beradette) Marchard and Alexander Marchand; many nieces and nephews.
 

Besides his parents he was predeceased by sister, Marquerite Vig; brother, Clem Marchand; brothers-in-law, Armit Vig, Alex Bonin, and Bill Campbell.

A private graveside service will be held in French River Cemetery at a later date.
