Obituary of Mary Alice Dempsey
Mary Alice Dempsey, 71, Pine Tree, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, May 6, 2026.
Born in Truro, she was a daughter of the late Curtis King and Lillian Roberta (Murphy) Faulkner. Mary was employed as a demonstrator with the Westside Sobey store. Mary owned and operated Pine Tree Ceramics for several years. She thoroughly enjoyed teaching and creating wonderful works of art. Many Sundays, she and her husband, George and, or, her close friend, Kathy Golemiec, traveled to craft shows throughout the county. Mary possessed a “green thumb” and enjoyed planting and maintaining her flower gardens. Due to poor health, she would be confined to a wheelchair for periods of time. She used this time to study and practice her ornithology and plant taxonomy skills. Mary loved people, she enjoyed conversation and being with others. She understood the “simpler things in life” mattered most. She will be lovingly remembered as being self-aware, forthright and conscientious. Most importantly, she leaves a rich legacy of love for her family and life.
Surviving are her husband, George Patrick Dempsey; daughter, Heidi Ann Gibbs, Pine Tree; Stevie (Chester) Williams, Alma; son, Curtis Gibbs, Tanner Hill; Julian Dempsey (Kelcey Cathcart), Eastern Passage; grandchildren, Kylie Mciver, Zak Kenny, Sierra Enger, Katie Enger and Sawyer Patrick Dempsey; sisters, Brenda DeHaan, Valley; brother, Stephen (Joanne) Faulkner, Truro; sisters-in-law, Marie (Lorenzo) Grant, Belledune, N.B.; brothers-in-law, Jack (Doreen) Dempsey, Nackawic, N.B.; Harold (Darlene) Dempsey, Pokeshaw, N.B.; Billy (Muriel) Dempsey, Pokeshaw; Jim (Sharon) Dempsey, Onslow Mountain; Mike (Kathy) Dempsey, Hardwood Hill; Donald (Debbie) Dempsey, Barrie, Ont.; Ken (Kathleen) Dempsey, Brampton, Ont.; Christopher (Caroline) Dempsey, Pokeshaw, N.B.; many nieces and nephews.
