Obituary of Aubrey Edwin Dee
Aubrey Edwin Dee, 84, Pine Tree, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, June 9, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Herbert William and Doris Mildred (MacDonald) Dee. Aubrey was the middle child of five children. Raised in Trenton, he attended Trenton school and was active in sports, especially, hockey. Aubrey joined the Royal Canadian Airforce at an early age where he trained as a chef. After serving his country, he worked in various restaurants, as a sales representative with Atlantic Wholesalers and finished his working career as a school bus drive with the Chignecto Regional School Board, the job he liked best.
In 1968 he married Ethel (Foote) and because he loved her so much, married her again 35 years later, a love that lasted 58 years. Together they have a daughter, Sandra (Jeff) DeYoung, New Glasgow. Along came his future sidekick and the ‘apple of his eye’, grandson, Christopher. Papa was sure proud of this young man even though in the end.
Battling Alzheimer’s disease, Aubrey wasn’t quite sure who this young cowboy was when he came for his last visit, but Nanny knew by Papa’s eyes the spark of memory was there.
Surviving besides his wife and daughter, are, his sisters-in-law, Carol Dee, Wallace; and Edith Murphy, Thorburn; several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by siblings, Shirley (Bill) Callaghan, Billy (Eva) Dee, Herbert Dee and Sandy (Trudy) Dee.
Lastly, a word from the other half, my heart is broken, I would not wish him back to the life he had at the end. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat to have him back healthy and strong. I love you Waddy and always will.
In honour of Aubrey’s wishes a public graveside service will be held at a later date in French River Cemetery.
Donations may be made in Aubrey’s memory to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
Lovingly written by his wife, Ethel.
