Obituary of Deanna Joan Weeks

Deanna Joan Weeks, 83, Thorburn, formerly of Stellarton and New Glasgow, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, June 23, 2026, in the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit, surrounded by her family.

Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Clarence Miller and Edna Matthews (Dean) Finley. Her working career permitted her to experience several different jobs: Canada Post, Michelin Tire and Sears Canada, all of which she enjoyed. She was a member of Trinity United Church, New Glasgow and the Thistle Quilt Guild, Westville. Deanna was a gifted artist, having many of her paintings displayed. She cherished the time spent with her late husband, Bill, traveling throughout the Maritimes and living life to the fullest each day.

Surviving are her daughter, Cindy (Jeff) Dixon, Calgary, Alta.; grandchildren, Shaun (Rebecca) Dixon, Calgary;  Brian (Amanda) Dixon, Calgary and Amanda (Dallas) great-grandchildren Leopold and Brynn Snauwaert, Carbon, Alta.; sister, Judy (Paul) Funk, Calgary; brothers, Reg Finley, Thorburn; Doug Finley, New Glasgow; sister-in-law, Shirley Finley, Dartmouth; several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Charles William “Bill” Weeks; brother, Bill Finley; sister-in-law, Donna Finley.

The family would like to thank Dr. Straub, Dr. Schnare, Dr. Horton and the team at Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit for the kindness and compassion they showed Deanna.

In honour of Deanna’s wishes, her family will celebrate her life privately.
