Obituary of Drummond MacDonald

 

Charles Drummond MacDonald, 81, Lismore, passed away peacefully, Friday, July 10, 2026, at home with his wife by his side.

 

Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Donald St. John and Theresa Catherine (MacGillivray) MacDonald. He was a member St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Lismore. In his late teens, he moved to Toronto where he was employed as a truck driver, crane operator and roofer.  Drummond was an entrepreneur, having operated CD Haulage and a recycling centre for several years.  He was “always up for anything”, he enjoyed learning and discovering new things. Drummond has been described as a “personality in himself”, enjoyed singing, dancing and music.  He was very personable and very accepting of others. Drummond possessed tremendous work ethic, a kind heart and lust for life. He spent many enjoyable hours with his canine pal, Lily.  Above all, Drummond loved his family dearly, especially, his wife, whom he called, “my Betty”.  Although saddened, his family are comforted to know that for Drummond, life has changed; not ended.

 

Surviving are his wife, Bettty Lou (Hamilton) MacDonald; children, Shelley Diane MacDonald (Roy Mulder), Ardness; Charles Duane MacDonald (Catherine Sklar), Mississauga, Ont.; Byron Wade MacDonald, Barrie, Ont.; Kimberly Dawn MacDonald, Toronto, Ont.; grandchildren, Amelia, Gordon, Lucy and Gavin; sisters, Donna MacDonald, Mississauga; Joan (Walter) Pawlikewich, Winnipeg, Man.; Anne (J.P.) Baudon, Kelowna, B.C.; brothers, Raymond (Anne), Arisaig; Hugh Ninian, New Glasgow; Eric (Amanda), Dunmaglass; Ian (Debbie), Plymouth; Paul (Beatrice), Melbourne, Fla.; sisters-in-law, Sheila, Merigomish and Suzanne, New Glasgow; brother-in-law, William (Sally) Mitchell, Fredericton, N.B.; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Lynn MacDonald.

 

The family will receive visitors 2-4 p.m. Thursday, July 16 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Friday, July 17 in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Lismore with Father Roland Agomuo presiding. Interment will be in Mount St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bailey’s Brook.

 

Donations may be made in Drummonds memory to Youth Lead Arts Inc.
