Obituary of Anna Theresa MacDougall

Anna Theresa MacDougall, 92, Vimy Court, Bible Hill, formerly of New Glasgow, passed away peacefully, Sunday, July 26, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born in Knoydart, she was a daughter of the late Angus Dan and Christine (Smith) MacDougall.  Anna’s early education was in Saint Joseph Convent, Mabou following she taught school in the Truro area for several years. She moved to Toronto and the Peterborough, Ont., where she worded as Director of Research for Daniel Starch Canada Limited until retirement. Anna then moved back to the area, settling in New Glasgow where she was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church and CWL, Stellarton. Anna volunteered with the Society of St. Vincent De Paul helpline in Peterborough, Truro and New Glasgow. Although saddened at her passing, her family are comforted with the knowledge that for Anna, “Life has changed; not ended!”

Surviving are her sister, Margie (Matt) Vooro, Burlington, Ont.; sister-in-law, Ineka MacDougall, Edmonton, Alta.; many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by sisters, Harriet (Bill) Tutty and Sister Hughena MacDougall (CND); brothers, Frank (Muriel), Alex, Lawrence (Joan) and Ronald “Rannie”; nieces, Monica Tutty and Joanne Gillis; grandnephews, Colin and Neil Dunbar.

The family will receive visitors 2-4 p.m. Thursday, July 30 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral Mass will be held 2 p.m. Friday, July 31 in the Church of the Holy Name, Westville with Father Peter MacDonald presiding. Interment will be in St. Margaret of Scotland cemetery, Arisaig.

Anna’s family wish to thank Shannex Vimy Court Derry Lane staff for the amazing care she received at her “second home”.
