NEW GLASGOW – Chester Smith, 69, New Glasgow, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2007 at home. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Walter Allen and Elizabeth Isabella (Langille) Smith. Prior to retirement, he had been a self-employed painter and during the sixties was a manger of Glubes Lower Price Store, Dartmouth. Surviving are sisters, Lillian Swan, Riverton; brother, Francis (Audrey) Smith, Westville; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Betty Johnson, Joan MacKay; brother, Garfield Smith. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors 2-4 p.m. Thursday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. A graveside committal service will be held 10 a.m. Friday in Holy Name Cemetery, Westville with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Donations may be made in his memory to any charity of choice.
