Obituary of Howard Alexander Murphy

STELLARTON – Howard Alexander Murphy, 71, Stellarton, passed away peacefully, Thursday, October 7, 2021, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Stellarton, he was a son of the late Bryan Alexander and Lena (Brow) Murphy. Howard was employed with Atlantic Supermarket Contractors Ltd. for over 35 years. He truly enjoyed working with his boss and friend, Doug DeMont. Previously, he had been employed in sales with Hostess Potato Chips and as a driver with Speedy Propane. Howard began working for Lanes Bakery as a driver in his early years. He was a 50-year member of the of the Royal Canadian Air Force Association, 110 Northumberland Wing, Stellarton, where he had served as president for two years. Howard joined in 1971 and received his 50-year pin and plaque on September 22, 2021. He enjoyed curling until his health prevented. Howard enjoyed going to his camp and spending time with family and friends. Surviving are his partner, Rhonda MacNeil; son, Ryan (Courtney) Murphy and their children, Harley, Kara, Jordan and Lydia, New Glasgow; step-son, Adrain (Sarah) Rhyno and their children, Olivia and Liam, River John; sisters, Patsy (Stephen) Price, Cole Brook; Brenda Murphy, New Brunswick; brothers, Morrison (Cathy) Murphy, Stellarton; Pat Murphy, Alma; Richard (Maxine) Murphy, Pleasant Valley; John (June) Murphy, McLellan’s Brook; many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sister-in-law, Judy Murphy. In keeping with Howard’s wishes, his life will be celebrated privately. Howard’s family wish to thank the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care team and Emergency Department staff, the Pictou County Victorian Order of Nurses (nurses and support staff) and Dr. Ehab Soliman for the excellent care and support given to him.
