NEW GLASGOW – Mary Bernadette (DeCoste) Ross, Little Harbour Road, New Glasgow, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2011 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Arichat, Nova Scotia she was a daughter of the late Walter and Alvina DeCoste. Bernadette had been employed with MacKenzie’s Photo Studio, New Glasgow and for many years, a homemaker and caregiver for numerous children whom she loved dearly. She loved attending dances with her husband Bill. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend. Her best friend for 50 years was Betty MacDougall, New Glasgow and her special friend was Linda Willett, MacLellans Brook. She was a member of St. John’s Roman Catholic Church, New Glasgow. Survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Robert William (Bill); son, Duncan William, New Glasgow; daughter, Florence Craig, Westville; sisters: Anita Fraser, New Glasgow; Agnes (Lubin) LeBlanc, Halifax; brothers: Wilbert (Jean) DeCoste, Arichat; Collie DeCoste, Arichat; sister-in-law , Agnes DeCoste, Arichat; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by sisters: Margaret Landry, Janette Hubert, Eva Avery; brother, Bernie DeCoste; brother-in-laws, Robert Fraser, Jim Avery, Gussie Landry, Francis Hubert; and her dearly loved son-in-law, David Craig. At the request of the deceased, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or funeral service. Arrangements have been entrusted to P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Interment of ashes in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, December 28th at 2 p.m. with Father Donald Boudreau presiding. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in her memory to the Pictou County Food Bank or Pictou County SPCA, Granton or a charity of one’s choice.
