NEW GLASGOW – Vera Chisholm Tong, 91, Valley View Villa, Riverton, formerly of New Glasgow, Lyons Brook and London, Ont., passed away, Sunday, June 1, 2014 in the Villa. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late Frank Selwyn and Mary Christine (Chisholm) Mills. She was a Registered Nurse, retiring in 1981 after working at various hospitals in Ontario. She was a member of First United Baptist Church, New Glasgow, Theo Dunn WMS, the Ladies Aid and Lyons Brook Women’s Institute. Surviving are daughters, Mary Tong, Vancouver, B.C.; Frances “Fran” Lauzon, Medicine Hat, Alta.; granddaughter, Elizabeth Smith (Corey Newell), and their children, Vincent and Michael, Medicine Hat; grandson, Saad Fadl-Alla (Rose Lanzador) and their daughter, Halle, Vancouver; brothers, Donald Mills, Hopewell; John Selwyn (Barbara) Mills, Riverview, N.B.; Major Douglas Albert (Shirley) Mills (Ret’d), Oromocto, N.B. She was predeceased by her husband, Theodore Arthur Tong; sons-in-law, Harold Smith and Yousef Fadl-Alla; brother, Clayton; sisters-in-law, Joan and Azora. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, in First United Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Stanton officiating. Interment will be in Seaview Cemetery.
