Obituary of Dennis Eugene Bowden
NEW GLASGOW - Dennis Eugene Bowden, 68, New Glasgow, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 21, 2016 at home.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late John Edward and Abuellias Orora (Jewell) Bowden.
Prior to retirement, he was employed with the former Trenton Works as supervisor for many years. Dennis was a member of Second United Baptist Church, New Glasgow where he served as custodian. He was a member of the former Men’s Brotherhood and Male Chorus. Dennis sang in the choir and as a soloist. He was very active in his community, sharing his gifts and skills to benefit others. Dennis served as president of Ward One Social and Recreation Centre and was actively involved in many community and church projects. Dennis loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews. He treasured his wife, Caroline, especially the quiet evenings spend together watching TV. Dennis enjoyed singing the “old spirituals”, sharing his love of Christ and now has gone to his eternal home with his Heavenly Father.
Surviving are his wife, Caroline M. (Izzard); daughters, Lorraine, Halifax; Angela “Jim-Bob”, New Glasgow; Cora-Leigh, New Glasgow; step-children, Holly, Halifax; Andrea and Chantel, Montreal, Que.; Alexander, Montreal; Russell, Victoria, B.C.; grandchildren, Dakota, Terrell, Roger, Roemyn, Dayson, Shaneen and Hope; sister, Pastor Sheila (Bruce) Clyke, Truro; brothers, Honorary Deacon Brian (Brenda) Bowden, New Glasgow; Peter (Karen) Bowden, Halifax; sister-in-law, Jean Watson, New Glasgow; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brother, Edward; grandson, DeAngelo Eugene Beals.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, January 24 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, January 25 in Second United Baptist Church, New Glasgow with Rev. Dr. Moses B. Adekola officiating. Spring interment will be in Brookside Cemetery.
