Obituary of William Edward McCarron

NEW GLASGOW – William Edward “Bill” McCarron, 84, New Glasgow, passed away Friday, June 29, 2007 in Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow surrounded by his family. Born in Egerton, he was the eldest son of the late Leo and Maude Claire (Moore) McCarron. He was employed for 49 years as a machinist at Maritime Steel, New Glasgow, retiring in 1997. He was a member of St. Gregory’s Roman Catholic Church, New Glasgow. Bill had been a member of the Gunshop Memory Club and the Shore Road Bowling League. He enjoyed fly tying, fishing and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He was a caring husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. Surviving are daughters, Donna McCarron, New Glasgow; Angela (Glenn) MacIntosh, Stellarton; sons, Pat, Ottawa; Leo (Sandi), New Hamburg, Ont.; grandchildren, Peter and Sean McCarron, Dylan and Ethan MacIntosh; sisters, Beatrice MacDonald, Stellarton; Bernadette Farrell, Pascoag, Rhode Island; Frances “Fran” MacDonald, Egerton; Nora (Peter) Forsythe, Ottawa; brothers, Patrick “Paddy” (Carole), Egerton; Jerome (Audrey), Regina, Sask.; sister-in-law, Elizabeth McCarron, Tatamougche; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary; sister, Evelyn Helmes; brothers, Leo, John Brian and Hugh Francis in infancy. Visitation will be 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. Sunday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. St. Gregory’s CWL will say prayers at 6:45 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Monday in St. Gregory’s Roman Catholic Church with Father Donald Boudreau presiding. Cremation will follow with interment in St. Andrew’s Cemetery, Egerton at a later date. Family flowers only please.
