Obituary of Jeremiah David O'Connor
ANDERSON MOUNTAIN – Jeremiah ‘Jerry’ David O’Connor, 81, Anderson Mountain, passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2018 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Piedmont Valley, he was a son of the late Jeremiah and Catherine (MacDonald) O’Connor. Jerry enjoyed playing cards with his friends, trained and raced harness horses for over 40 years with his son and more recently his grandson. He was a welder at the former Hawker Siddley, was self employed in construction and heavy machinery. In his earlier years he was in the Black Watch.
Surviving are wife, Jean (Wallace) ; daughters, Sherry O’ Connor (John Shirk), Anderson Mountain; Bonnie (John) Doyle, Scotsburn; Cynthia O’Connor, Sunnybrae; sons, David (Belinda) O’Connor, The Ponds; Charles “Chuck” (Helen) O’Connor, Anderson Mountain; Jeremiah (Susan) Silliker, Ontario; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, sisters Rose Brightman, New Glasgow; Molly (Ralph)Cyr, West River; Lillian Shaw, Greenhill; Faye (Reg) Booth, New Glasgow; brothers, Cyril O’Connor, Piedmont Valley; Hugh (Barb) Cameron, Sylvester; many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by grandson, Adam; sisters, Louise MacKenzie and Kathleen Trefrey; brothers, Charles, Philip, Kenny, and Ivan.
The family will receive visitors 10–11:50 am Saturday June 9, 2018 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held at 12pm with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Interment will be in Murray’s Point Cemetery.
