Obituary of Florence Gussie Augusta MacInnis

NEW GLASGOW – Florence Augusta “Gussie” MacInnis, 92, Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow, passed away peacefully, Thursday, August 8, 2019 in the manor. Born in Bailey’s Brook, she was a daughter of the late Colin Cameron and Mary Catherine “Mamie” (MacGillivray) MacInnis. Gussie was employed with the Telegraph House, Baddeck for over 50 years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Lismore. She was a lady who possessed unwavering faith in her Lord. For Gussie, “life has changed; not ended!” Surviving are sister, Wilma Burke, Bailey’s Brook; brother, Colin MacInnis, Trenton; foster brother, James Harpell, Truro; generations of many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by sisters, Goldie MacLean, Carmel MacDonald and Edna Chisholm; two sisters; brother in infancy; foster brother, Gerry Harpell; sister-in-law, Claire MacInnis; brothers-in-law, Fred Burke, Charlie MacLean, Dougall “Dunkie” MacDonald and Archie Chisholm. The family will receive visitors 2-4 p.m. Sunday, August 11th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Monday, August 12th in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Lismore with Father Colin F. MacKinnon presiding. Interment will be in Mount St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bailey’s Brook. Donations may be made in memory of Gussie to St. Mary’s Cemetery Fund.
