Obituary of Howard Alden Butler
NEW GLASGOW – Howard Alden Butler, 82, New Glasgow, passed away Thursday, October 9, 2008 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by his family.
Born in Chance Harbour, he was a son of the late Alfred and Charlotte Anne (Wooden) Butler. Prior to retirement in 1986, he was employed in the engineering department at Trenton Works and for 10 years with Robb Engineering, Amherst. He was a member of Trinity United Church, New Glasgow. Howard was an avid reader and greatly enjoyed spending time with his cat, Cleo, and friends.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Vinie (Legere); daughter, Arlene (Ian) Moffatt, Woodstock, N.B.; son, Paul Kerwin, New Glasgow; grandchildren, Angel and Shane Moffatt; Morgan, Michael and Shelby Lynn Butler; great-grandson, Aaron; sister, Alta Foye, Hillside; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by sisters, Margaret La Lacheur, Anna Carmichael and Hazel MacLean; brother, Irvin.
At Howard’s request, a private graveside service will take place.
Donations may be made in his memory to the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit or the Canadian Cancer Society.
