Obituary of Donald Albert Barrow
NEW GLASGOW/ ONTARIO - Donald Albert “Don” Barrow, 72, Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow formerly of Oshawa, Ont., passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, Friday, April1, 2011 in the Aberdeen Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, New Glasgow.
Born in Toronto, he was a son of the late Thomas and Kathleen (McCarrol) Barrow. Don served as an Able Seaman in the Royal Canadian Navy and subsequently spent the remainder of his working life in sales throughout Ontario. He was an avid sports fan and always looked forward to time spent in Northern Ontario with his family at the lake. Don was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived and will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 53 years, Dorothy Catherine (Neima) Barrow, Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow; daughter, Karen Ann “Kari” Barrow, Oshawa, Ont.; son, Thomas “Tom” Barrow, Markham, Ont.; special daughter, Bev (Merle) Pope, Oshawa, Ont.; sisters, Barbara (Ozzie) Hinds, Toronto; sisters-in-law, Karen (Frank) Mombourquette, New Glasgow; Annette Gonzalez, Tampa, Fla.; brothers-in-law, Barry McDonough, Toronto; Brent Steele, New Glasgow; eight grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by infant daughters Barbara Ann, Patricia Ann, and sister, Susan McDonough.
There will be no visitation by request, a private graveside service will be held at a later date in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Stellarton.
