Obituary of John Francis Connors

TRENTON – Sgt. John Francis “Jack” Connors, 91, Ivey’s Terrace Nursing Home, Trenton, formerly of Pictou Landing, passed away peacefully in the home, January 23, 2017, surrounded by his family. Born in New Glasgow he was a son of the late Thomas and Sadie (Fitzgerald) Connors. Jack enlisted in the army at an early age and was deployed in Korea and was a peacekeeper in Egypt. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 29, Trenton and Branch 34, New Glasgow. Jack enjoyed playing darts and camping with his family. Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Joan (Chisholm), Ivey’s Terrace Nursing Home; daughters, Beverly (Blaise) MacGillivray, Carol Fraser (Fred Phalen), all of Trenton; Roxanne Connors, Truro; sons, David (Kim), Trenton; Stephen (Alice), Alberta; Jackie (Evelyn), Jerusalem, Israel; 12 grandchildren and six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by siblings, Marie, Patty, Tommy, Jimmy, Eddy, Weldy and William. The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26th, in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Mass of Christian burial will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 27th, in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, New Glasgow with Father Thomas MacNeil officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations in Jack’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia or Aberdeen Palliative Care Society.
