Obituary of Mabel Jean Dunn

GREEN HILL - Mabel Jean Dunn, 86, Ivey’s Terrace Nursing Home, Trenton, formerly of Green Hill, passed away Thursday, December 26, 2013 surrounded by her family. Born in Lorne, she was a daughter of the late John Dan and Catherine Christine (MacLean) Crockett. In earlier years, she had taught school in Sylvester and Lansdowne. Mabel was a member of Green Hill–Alma United Church where she was a member of the UCW Estelle Unit and a former Sunday school teacher. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Surviving are sons, Barry (Brenda) Dunn, Sylvester; Bill (Linda) Dunn, Green Hill; grandchildren, Crystal, Timothy, Ryan and Amber; step-granddaughter, Virginia; great-grandchildren, Noah, Josie, Kaleb, Brett and Faith; brother, Ian (Janet) Crockett, Lorne; “chosen sister”, Dorothy; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, William Alexander Dunn; sisters, Eileen Heron and Isabel MacDonald; brother, Ray Crockett. The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 29th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30th in the chapel with Rev. Meredith Fraser presiding. Interment will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens at a later date. The Dunn family wish to thank the special people at Ivey’s Terrace who provided exceptional care to Mabel. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in Mabel’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or Green Hill–Alma United Church.
