Obituary of Patrick Philip James Fitzpatrick
WALKERVILLE - Patrick Philip James “Paddy” Fitzpatrick, 76, Walkerville, passed away Friday, October 24, 2014 at home.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Daniel Angus and Marion Elizabeth (Frost) Fitzpatrick. Paddy served in the Canadian Army with the Black Watch in Gagetown and Germany. Upon retirement from the army, Paddy was employed with the former Johnson and MacDonald Warehouse and then TRA until retirement. He had been a member and leader with St. John Ambulance for many years. Paddy was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 34, New Glasgow and an avid dart player. He enjoyed listening to music, reading Western novels, smoking his pipe and doing yard work. Paddy greatly enjoyed the companionship of his dog, Buddy.
Surviving are sisters, Stella Stewart, Priestville; Mary (Eugene) Boudreau, Weston, Ont.; Anna Kearnes, Ajax, Ont.; Doris (Percy) Cook, Hopewell; Mabel (Havelock) Bingley, Egerton; brothers, Murdock, Ajax; Michael “Alex” (Joy), Thorburn; James (Katy), Westville; sister-in-law, Brenda Fitzpatrick, Walkerville; many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brother, Daniel; niece, Sheila “Toot” Fitzpartick; sister-in-law, Marie Fitzpatrick; brothers-in-law, Raymond Stewart and Chuck Kearnes; friend, Jean Snell.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28 in the chapel with Father Gary MacPherson presiding. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, New Glasgow.
