Obituary of Raymond Stephen DeYoung

NEW GLASGOW – Raymond Stephen DeYoung, 66, New Glasgow, passed away Monday, November 18, 2013 in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII, Halifax, surrounded by his loving family. Born in New Glasgow, he was the son of the late Daniel Edward and Marie Louise (Cooke) DeYoung. Raymond was employed with the former Trenton Works for many years prior to retirement due to ill health 12 years ago. During his illness, he was greatly comforted by his pet poodles, Susie, Sam, Bear, Winston, Spectro and Max. Raymond was a kind and loving man, whose gentle soul is finally at rest. Surviving are his best friend and soul mate, Debbie Murray; sons, Blaine DeYoung (April Murray), New Glasgow; Dr. Gerrit Murray (Julie Crowell), Toronto, Ont.; daughter, Paula (Mike) Fitzpatrick, Ottawa, Ont.; sisters, Cheryl DeYoung and Trudy (Fred) Vince, New Glasgow; several grandchildren; a niece and a nephew; sister-in-law, Gail Prime, Halifax. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Wally. The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel with Father Colin MacKinnon presiding. Family flowers only.
